About Me

I am Betty Keener McClendon. I teach Fourth Grade, here at Duck Springs. I  started my twenty-third year this August. I love teaching. Every year is an experience and the children are so different and enjoyable. I truly enjoy teaching the fourth grade curriculum. I spend a lot of time in workshops that provide up to date scientific information that I can pass on to my students. This past summer I spent almost a week at Sea Lab on Dauphin Island. My students have always enjoyed the specimens I have gathered which gives my class a first hand look at things they might not have an opportunity to view otherwise. I, also, spend several days each year at the Alabama Wildlife Federation at Lanark in Millbrooke, studying land animals, flora, and fauna of our diverse state. Needless to say the students benefit in many ways through these outlets. I am, also, a staunch believer in the extremely interesting area of Alabama History. The bio-diversity and rich history of our beautiful state places us at the top of the list of interesting states.
I regret there is not an updated picture I can share. This picture of my family is an old one. We haven't had an opportuni
ty to have another one made. The baby, Aden is in the third grade and now has a little brother, Jaxon, who is 9
months old this month. The beautiful li
ttle girl has left Duck Springs for Sardis Middle School, where she has joined the band and is marching this year, it seems like only yesterday she was starting kindergarten. She, also, plays violin in the Youth Orchestra.
